Four Week Workshop
Write and Publish Flash Fiction

For the first time ever, Ella Peary is leading a workshop focused on writing and publishing flash fiction. Learn the art of flash fiction, get extensive feedback on your writing, and personal help getting your writing published.

  • Four weeks of in-depth training covering every aspect of writing and publishing flash fiction.

  • Personal feedback on every lesson from Ella Peary.

  • Detailed feedback on your writing from Ella Peary, so you can maximize your chances of publishing success.

  • Publisher recommendations from Ella Peary, so you can be confident in your submissions.

  • Access to live office hours, available exclusively to students of Authors Publish, even after the course is finished.

  • Full access to our private community of writers, so you can network with your fellow students

Become a Published Author of Flash Fiction

Few people know the literary publishing market the way Ella Peary does. As a long-time literary journal reviewer and editor at Authors Publish, her breadth of knowledge about publishing in literary journals is likely unmatched.

When we asked her to lead a writing and publishing workshop for us, she chose one of her favorite forms of writing: Flash fiction, which is "compressed" fiction, usually shorter than 1,000 words.

Not only is writing flash fiction a wonderful way to hone your skill as a writer, there are also many opportunities to get flash fiction published.

The course is scheduled for March 9th to April 3rd. It will be held on our digital learning platform, with daily lessons you can complete on your own time.

The course includes:

  • Detailed feedback on your writing from Ella Peary.
  • Personal recommendations for publishers who may be interested in your work.
  • Four weeks of lessons, feedback, and discussion on the art (and joy) of writing flash fiction.

During this course, you will create a polished portfolio of flash fiction that Ella Peary will help you submit to publishers.

By the end of this class, you will have a portfolio flashes ready for publication, and a list of literary journals where you can submit those pieces for publication. Most importantly, you will have developed a sustainable writing practice that will help you produce and publish flash fiction for years to come.

Because of the intense level of personal feedback offered by Ella, this course is strictly limited to thirty students.

This course is the only way to get this level of direct feedback, training, and consultation from Ella Peary. If you are interested, I encourage you to enroll right now.

Build a Portfolio of Polished Writing – And Get It Published

During this course, you will get personal feedback on a portfolio of your writing, and help getting it published. Ella will use her extensive knowledge of the publishing market to help you find the right publishers for your work.

As a long-time literary journal reviewer and editor at Authors Publish, her breadth of knowledge about publishing in literary journals is very extensive, giving her a unique insight into the many publishing opportunities available.

  • Build a writing habit that leads to publication.

  • Get personal feedback on a portfolio of your writing.

  • Personalized help submitting your writing to publishers.

Personal Feedback On Your Writing

In addition to the four weeks of training, Ella Peary is generously offering personal feedback on your writing.

During this course, Ella Peary will give you personal feedback on your writing, so that you will complete this course with a polished portfolio that is ready for publication. (Note that work she has edited has gone on to win major awards.)

Ella Peary will also personally recommend publishers she believes are a good fit for your writing. Her extensive experience as the literary journal editor at Authors Publish gives unparalleled knowledge about the many publishing opportunities available for flash fiction.

The Course Is Limited to 30 Students

Because of the intense level of personal feedback offered by Ella Peary, we are strictly limiting this course to thirty students. Once we reach that number, we will immediately close enrollment.

Workshop Schedule

The course starts on Monday, March 9th and ends on April 3rd. The course comes with daily lessons you can study on your own time, and daily interaction with Ella Peary. Everything is provided online, through the digital learning platform hosted by Thinkific.

  • Daily lessons, available to study any time on our digital learning platform, hosted online.

  • Personal feedback on every lesson via email, our discussion platform, or our private Facebook Group.

  • When you are ready, Ella will provide personal feedback on your writing.

FAQ

  • What is the course schedule?

The course starts on Monday, March 9th, and ends of April 3rd. The course comes with daily lessons you can study on your own time, and feedback on your assignments from Emily Harstone.

  • How much time will the course require?

Overall, expect to spend around 30 minutes a day on the course. Some days will require less work, some days will require more.

Lessons are released weekly, which gives you flexibility. Based on our experience with other courses, some students do the bulk of their work in one or two days each week, while others spend a little bit of time each day on our courses.

  • Should I join this course if I have never written flash fiction?

This course is for writers who want to hone their craft, as well as find new opportunities to get published. It is designed to be accessible to writers new to flash fiction, but it also provides a lot of value for those who are more experienced.

This course helped to demystify the landscape of literary journals and submission process. The instructor's feedback was immensely helpful; I feel much more confident submitting my work. The online forum is learner-centered, interactive, clear, and useful. There are opportunities to connect with others online; I've made a partnership with another writer in the course to exchange reading and feedback on an ongoing basis with one other. I was given individualized feedback on my current work and a sample query letter. As I neared the end of the four-week seminar with Emily Harstone on how to submit a manuscript to a publisher or an agent, I realized that I had learned more in just four weeks of daily lessons than I had in almost ten years of trial and error in getting my manuscripts published. What makes the coursed offered by Emily and Authors Publish so unique is the extensive and personal feedback which she gives each student in the class. Through Emily's professional critique, I was able to turn a ho-hum manuscript into an eye-catching, attention-getting excerpt. Armed with that and a tightly crafted query letter and synopsis, I am confident now that I will be able to find the right publisher for my manuscript.

This was the most helpful course on publishing! It covered aspects of preparing your query letter and synopsis for a publisher that books on the subject had not managed. And it provided clarity on how to look out for the kinds of publishers and how they can impact your future publishing efforts. In a world of ebooks, publishing has changed, though not as much as you might think and this course addressed this nicely.

The one thing I noticed is that there is little information about how to go about getting published. This course gives you insight on how to improve your writing, gives the opportunity to make friends willing to start writing groups, and gives the "secrets" to going about getting your work published. I learned and gained a lot more in this course than I had expected. The critiques received from the instructor and from classmates is invaluable. I feel more confident in editing my work, providing feedback to others, and knowing how to approach journals and where to find them. It is a confidence I didn't have before the course. Thank you!
