Join Daisuke Shen for a Five Day Virtual Writing Retreat

Monday, June 10th to Friday, June 14th — 4:00pm to 6:30pm ET Daily

During the past two years, Daisuke Shen has secured an agent and landed a publishing deal, all while writing innovative short stories.

This five-day workshop is for writers who want to spend a focused week studying the art of the short story with a small group of writers dedicated to their craft -- all with the guidance and support of Daisuke Shen.

In addition to the daily workshop experience, Daisuke will give you two rounds of personal feedback on your work, as well as recommend publishers who may be a good fit for your writing.

During this workshop, you'll participate in dynamic discussions about your own writing, and hone your knowledge of craft by contributing to discussions about others' work. These discussions will offer valuable lessons on writing and editing. You’ll integrate what you learn by completing daily in-class exercises designed to help you hone your craft.

  • Daily craft lessons

What Daisuke Shen's Students Have to Say

“Daisuke is a wonderful caring teacher, full of love and encouragement… The edits on my work were absolutely wonderful and to the point. I loved the edits, and the direction they gave me to expand the piece. ”

Radhika Iyer

“As for Daisuke, I can't sing their praises loud enough! The amount of editing they did to my work showed that they wanted to provide feedback, would not be content with a brief and cursory glance, and truly wanted to make me feel as if they had fully read and thought about what I wrote. Definitely what I hoped to see in an editor and I was not disappointed.”

Andrew Long

“Thank you Daisuke for your patient and encouraging way of teaching. I can tell you really care about your students' progress and I loved reading all of your thoughtful comments in the discussion. ”

Kate Grono

“Daisuke was so encouraging and supportive while giving extensive and thoughtful feedback on assignments--both optional and required to complete the course. Love the course and the instructor!”

Teresa Aguinaldo

“Daisuke is an affable, encouraging instructor, and gives feedback that is both helpful and precise. In this workshop, Daisuke built a feeling of trust, allowing the participants to feel encouraged to share their work. Thank you Daisuke for allowing me to be part of this course, it has without a doubt in my mind helped me become a better writer. ”
