Hone Your Writing Voice and Make Your Sentences Sizzle
With Patricia Westerhof

Saturday, June 6th, 2026
Prose • Online • 3pm–6:30pm ET

You are invited to a one-day writing workshop with award winning novelist and writing instructor Patricia Westerhof.

During this one-day workshop, you’ll gain tools to strengthen your writing voice, so you can choose language that invites readers to picture the scene, make sentences nuanced and musical. You'll also identify the habits that hinder your voice and style, so you can clear away obstacles to allowing your unique voice to shine.

From the wording of the first sentence of a well-written manuscript, readers know they are in good hands; they have climbed into a stretch limo, not a school bus, and they anticipate the pleasures that come with a luxury ride. Whether you're writing a mystery, a memoir, a literary novel, or some other form of narrative writing, it's your language and your voice that engages readers before the content has a chance to do so.

By the end of this workshop, you'll have new set of tools for honing your unique voice and style, so you can draw on your own strengths, win readers over with your unique perspective, and captivate audiences from the very first sentence.

This workshop combines focused instruction with brief, hands-on exercises that allow participants to immediately apply each technique, followed by discussion to deepen learning and refinement.

You'll leave with a better understanding of your unique writing voice and a repertoire of craft tools to improve your voice and make your sentences sizzle.
